Monthly Round-up

A collection of the links we highlighted throughout the month with a few extras thrown in for good measure.

It was a slow month for links.  We hunkered down and got to work on some outstanding projects and didn't spend much time on the interwebs.  Or so it would seem.

This month we continued our occasional Wordless Wednesday.

We also gave a little love to our local sewing shops; the Quilted Thimble Cottage in Belmont, NC and Sewing Time in Blackheath, London.  Related posts here, here, and here.

Emily finally decided between the Swoon and Fireworks patterns for her mom here.

Ariel gave in and visited Liberty in London for a peek at their fabric selection.  (And came home with three samples and some ribbon).

Some extra link love goes out to this tutorial from City Stitches on half square triangles (or HSTs to those in the know).  Emily loves her some HSTs and this is her preferred tutorial for making a bunch in one go.

It's the Easter Bank Holiday over on this side of the pond and I'm whipping up some homemade Hot Cross Buns* (or HCBs for those in the know).  The recipe is one I pulled from a magazine a few years ago, but this blogger seems to appreciate it's value as well (although slightly more enthusiastically than I).  I substitute craisins for sultanas and if I'm feeling really rebellious, I throw in a few chocolate chips.

last year's result

Have a fantastic weekend!

*This was also my Gramma Rosa's nickname for me.  Hot Cross Buns.  I ask you.

Monthly Round up

A collection of the links we highlighted throughout the month with a few extras thrown in for good measure.*

We were quite bookish this month.

Quilting Pieces of the Past Emily's review can be found here.
Liberty Love by Alexia Abegg.  Review found here.
Quilts 1700-2010, Hidden Histories, Untold Stories edited by Sue Prichard. Ariel mentions it here with an accompanying page at the V&A in London.

Emily is quilting charitably.

First, for the Red Cross with the Handmade for Newtown project.  Read the post here.

And now, with the do.Good Stitches group on flickr.  Read about the progress here.

Emily mentioned she's attending the Sew South Retreat.  I'm sure we'll hear more about that next month.

Ariel semi-quoted a great interview with Danielle Henderson on Design*Sponge, or at least drew a little inspiration from the interview here.

Our first Wordless Wednesday featured images of Arielle Alasko's work (photographed by the artist) and Maura Grace Ambrose of Folk Fibers (photographed by Buff Strickland).

And for a little extra inspiration this month...

I'm getting a little obsessed with Log Cabin patterns and the myth & meanings behind colour combinations and layouts.  Maybe it's my way of nesting, but I think I found my next project.

*This monthly round-up encompasses Christmas to present to ensure we haven't missed anything since Friday Round-up went MIA.

A little housekeeping

Chinese New Year has come and gone, for some of us it is the season of Lent and for others of us spring and its feeling and promise of renewal can't come soon enough. (Although the screaming, pooping, squirmer that will come with my spring this year is anticipated and feared in equal measure.)

This little space on the internet isn't immune from these feelings of renewal and cleansing.  A few weeks ago Emily mentioned in passing a Skype session in which we made some plans for this little quilting adventure.  We are still working on some of the ideas and slowly coming up with a timeline for rolling out the changes and doing some behind-the-scenes work to make these new additions and edits gel with our current tack.

We started the blog with the idea of documenting the life of a particular quilt for each of us.  I was starting with a memory laden pile of t-shirts and Emily had a stash of fabric aching to be turned into something.  We weren't interested in creating tutorials or step by step, blow by blow descriptions of the process or portfolios of photos.  However, as each of the original pieces came to an end that is exactly where we found ourselves; diligently showing our work with little meaning or storytelling.

We started to think about what we love about quilting and what we want to share with our readers.  And while we will still share what we are currently working on, we want to expand our quilting discussions to what we are thinking about, what sparks our interest in the craft and what moves our readers to quilt.

To that end, we have made a few changes and will be looking for a bit of help from you, our lovely readers and quilting community.

~~~~~~~
Monday will remain devoted to Emily and her quilting adventures and forays into her local quilting community.
Tuesdays and Wednesday will be spaces for historical/traditional discussions/stories and wordless posts highlighting the visual and artistic aspects of quilting.  We want to dig into the stories behind popular/traditional block designs, or terms or photos or superstitions, etc.  We will leave it open to interpretation.
Thursday will become Ariel's day to babble about material re-use mis-adventures and ruminations.
Friday Round-Up will transition to a monthly recap of links shared throughout the preceding days with a few special extras we found around the internet.  Taking its place will be a kind of occasional Scrap Bag of quilting stories, memories, interviews, or book reviews, etc. we (or you) collect over time.
~~~~~~~

Obviously, most of this will be our own work and discoveries, but we want to create a space for community discoveries and stories as well.  Maybe you are interested in a particular aspect of quilting, or maybe you have a story or memory of a quilt you can't shake.  Why not share it with us?  It could be a single image with a caption or a complete history of a family heirloom.  Whatever it is, we want it.

So have a think and drop us a comment or email and let's stitch together a little virtual quilting bee complete with craft, storytelling and cake.

Friday Round-up

I'm hoping our dear readers are taking some time away from the internet.  But, just in case you aren't, here are two of my favourite Christmas* ads.

This is an oldie, but I do love cheese.

This is last year's John Lewis ad.  I admit I shed a little tear.

*And for our readers not celebrating Christmas...a little something to brighten your seasonal break.

This is another oldie, but I wet myself laughing every single time.

Friday Round-Up

Hey everyone!  I hope you've had a good week.  I'm still trying to figure out my new home and work life; it's bizarre to me that I only spend 15 minutes getting home now, instead of an hour, and I wake up an entire hour later than I have for the last two years.  I can sew at night!  And watch TV!  So strange.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand!  Here's what I found around the internet this week:

  • First off, big news!  The Land That Never Was by Lisa Congdon for Cloud9 was previewed today!  It's kind of Lizzy House "Castle Peeps" but much funkier.  The colors are amazing!
  • Amy Butler's Weekender bag is number one on my 2013 to-do list, and this post from Threadbias is making  me want to get a headstart!  The hardest part will be choosing fabric (she says naively).
  • I'd love to make some beeswax candles.  Even if I didn't burn them, they look great around the house!
  • I'm not a huge drink maker--even when I'm having alcohol, craft beer or a vodka tonic will do just fine--but these homemade Italian cream sodas look delicious.
  • I kind of want to go to Joann's this weekend and buy some purse frames for these coin purses.  They're so cute and look pretty simple too--perfect for weekend sewing!
What have you been seeing lately?  Have a great weekend, everyone!

Friday Round-up

Each Friday, one of us does a little round-up of stuff that has stuck in the brain this week.  Kind of like an ear-wig, but with stuff.  Ear-wigs are okay, too.  It's not always sewing related.

screen shot from Kathryn Clark's blog

This week I only have one link for you.  I first found this on Mighty Girl, just a snippet about a particular quilt of a neighbourhood in Cleveland, Ohio (my hometown).

On further investigation of Kathryn Clark's Foreclosure Quilts I found a fascinating geographical project combining the memory and timelessness of quilts and social comment.

Well worth a look.

Friday Round-Up

Good morning!  Things had been a bit quiet here during our Thanksgiving break, but Ariel's binding and I'm getting slowly back into my groove.  We're all moved in (minus a few box stragglers hanging out) and I'll have a peek into the evolving sewing room next week!

Of course, during the move I didn't stay away from blogs or Pinterest, so here are a few links I've found lately:

  • Camille Roskelley (of Bonnie and Camille) previewed her new line Happy-Go-Lucky on her blog yesterday.  I think we finally have a contender for Swoon!
  • Banana Pudding Sandwiches with Homemade Vanilla Wafers from Eat Live Run sound heavenly.  I may need to make some soon, now that I have some room in my kitchen!
  • These fabric buckets from Ashley at Film in the Fridge are everywhere right now!  I might whip up a few for the sewing room.  Once I get through my other pile of projects!
  • I've been wanting to tackle piping in garments, and this tutorial from Coletterie (of course) seems like it's the perfect helper.  Hopefully I manage to not mess it up!
  • Finally, if I'm going to drink a whole bottle of champagne on New Year's Eve, I should probably do it in style, and with something glittery.
Have a wonderful weekend!  See you on Monday!

Friday Round-Up

Things are getting pretty empty around here!  I'm out of work until I start my new job in Charlotte, so I've been a packing fiend lately.  All that's left are the bedroom and the kitchen.  However, we still don't have a final word on our lease from the property management company, so it's making it awfully hard to plan something like moving without an end destination.  In fact, it may be giving me an ulcer!

So let's focus on the happy things instead, okay?

  • This folk star throw from All Buttoned Up is exactly what I want to make: something with intricate details and a wonderful fabric selection, which I can also look to and think that it's so deliciously me without compromises.  It's also slightly Christmas-y and I can't pass that up.
  • I love Craftyblossom's simple, modern quilts, and this red cross baby quilt is no different.  Modern crosses and gray background?  Be still my heart.  I would make more baby quilts, if only there were more babies in my life!
  • Did you forget I'm engaged?  Because I totally did!  If I didn't have to slip a ring on my finger each day, that tiny little detail would be lost in the move by now.  Anyway, even though we aren't having a wedding, these honeycomb die-cut invitations from Southern Weddings magazine are feminine and modern without being too saccharine-sweet.
  • Stichery Dickory Dock is doing a block-of-the-month next year, and I'm contemplating: do I join?  Do I not?  Decisions, decisions!
  • I'm having tons of fun decorating my new house (if it ends up being mine...make a decision!!) over on Pinterest.  Go judge me by my furniture decisions.
Cross your fingers for us, y'all--we need it!

Friday Round-up

Each Friday, one of us does a little round-up of stuff that has stuck in the brain this week.  Kind of like an ear-wig, but with stuff.  Ear-wigs are okay, too.  It's not always sewing related.

From Cluck Cluck Sew
As luck would have it, I have had a bit of an ear-wig going this week.  'Let's go fly a kite' is circling my brain and I can't for the life of me figure out why.  So when this little quilt pattern popped up I knew I had to include it this week.  So simple.  I love it.  I've been thinking a lot about my next project and while it will still be made of re-purposed clothing, I was thinking of going a bit more traditional in terms of pattern.  This might be just the ticket.

photo by me
This monkey is my life long companion.  He watched me come into this world and I wouldn't doubt that he will be around when I go out.  He is well-travelled and well-loved.  He currently serves as the old wise man among our small stuffed toy collection.  It is tradition in our family to buy any new baby a sock monkey.  For awhile they were very hard to find.  Recently they have had a bit of a resurgence and while they are more readily available now, I have a bee in my bonnet to make my own.  But where to get the socks?  This is where the internet comes in handy.  Here and are the socks and you can also buy a sock monkey pattern.

Chipmunk here, Tattooed man here
Speaking of making stuffed toys...I found this particular pin board through A Printable Press.  How cool are these?  The chipmunk is just too cute (and resourceful.  I predict a lot of lost gloves and mittens in my future).  But the tattooed man?  That is right up my (clown) alley.  I'm all for circus themed toys and an Edwardian Tattooed Man?  That's classy.

Plum Alley Wallpaper from here
Which leads me to some pretty awesome wallpaper.  Elephants (of all sizes) on parade.  This just has 'me' written all over it.  Too bad it's $170 a roll before international shipping.  A girl can dream.

That's it from me.  Until next week...

Friday Round-Up

Happy Friday, everyone!  We made it!  It was a tough week here on the east coast, but it's Friday, and we're moving along.  Thankfully, D.C. wasn't hit nearly as hard as New York and New Jersey, but it was scary nonetheless!

I have some big news to share next week, but in the meantime, here are some great things I saw this week!

  • Cluck Cluck Sew has a new pattern out!  Scout premiered at Quilt Market and is right in line with all the feather-inspired quilts and fabrics lately.
  • I'm falling in love with wonky stars more and more every day, and this block from Elizabeth Hartman doesn't help things!
  • For us garment sewers, it doesn't get much better than Anna's Belladone dress.
  • I've falling in love with Sarah Watt's new line for Blend, Timber and Leaf.  I see some blouses and dresses in my future!
  • And seriously, it's freezing, so I doubt I'm the only one with a permanent burnt tongue from lots of hot chocolate lately.  Brr!
Stay safe this weekend, everyone!  See you back here Monday.

Friday Round-up

Each Friday, one of us does a little round-up of stuff that has stuck in the brain this week.  Kind of like an ear-wig, but with stuff.  Ear-wigs are okay, too.  It's not always sewing related.

When I lived in the US, this was my favourite time of year.  It's not quite the same over here.  The seasons still change, but it is a lot darker and wetter.  Halloween isn't a big deal here.  I have yet to find a proper pumpkin patch and the amount of trick-or-treaters knocking on my door in the last six years doesn't hold a candle to the first half hour of trick-or-treat night back home.  It goes without saying that Thanksgiving is a non-entity.

This Friday I'm concentrating on Halloween...

Pumpkin whoopie pie

Let's start with some treats.  The Hummingbird Bakery is an American bakery in London.  I have their cookbook Cake Days and it's filled with everyday treats as well as seasonal specialties
Last year I made the pumpkin cheesecake for our Halloween cocktail party.  There were no leftovers.

photo found here
With the current blogger trend of taking feet photos, I thought this particular quilt pattern appropriate.  It's also available as elf feet for Christmas.

photo by 42 quilts
I kind of love this block.  The 'flying geese' pattern is quite a popular and striking visual.  This is the first time I have seen it purposefully made wonky.  I love it.  The geese aren't always perfect so why should the block.  The tutorial is here.  The colours are autumnal and the geese are in the sky, the perfect block for the season.

Have a great weekend.

Friday Round-Up

This week took forever.  Don't you agree?

Well, Puddin' does.  He's pooped!

Here's what I distracted myself with this week:

  • Elizabeth Hartman is such an inspiration!  This week she shared her tutorial for a barn bats quilt.  Her fall colors make me want to make one immediately!
  • Hello, dream sewing room.  When do we get to meet?
  • Someone tweeted about the Ink Nest and now I'm obsessed.  Hand-drawn clip art in a variety of themes--of course I love it!
  • I'm dying over this QuiltCon bundle from Fat Quarter Shop.  Why did I put myself on a fabric diet?!
  • Speaking of fabric diets, I want to try out some Moda mini charms for this date night quilt.  Such a lovely design--I'm already pairing fabrics in my head!
What's been on your mind lately?  Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Friday Round-up

Each Friday, one of us does a little round-up of stuff that has stuck in the brain this week.  Kind of like an ear-wig, but with stuff.  Ear-wigs are okay, too.  It's not always sewing related.

I have kind of avoided the internet for awhile so I have no great links for you today.   However, I have been thinking about the memories attached to things.  A by-product of recently handling most of our things as they were packed onto a truck and unpacked into our new home, but also the point of my particular quilt.

Not every quilt I make will come with pre-packaged memories.  In fact I am looking forward to creating something from memory-free materials and seeing what stories appear, however, the stories held by material objects is a bit of an obsession of mine.

Today I bring you three books which play with this idea of story-infused things.

This is now a movie which focuses on the tempestuous mother/daughter relationship.  However, for me, this book centers on a ratty old album full of the detritus of life.  This album holds the Divine Secrets of a particular life and how it entwines with her dearest friends.  Some bits are self-explanatory, some bits are familiar yet not clear and some will forever be secrets.

Leading on from a novel about a scrapbook, this novel is written as a scrap book, or in this case, an auction brochure.  It's a story of a relationship that didn't work told exclusively through items belonging to each partner.  The story of their courtship, relationship and unwinding is told through photographs and descriptions of each item.  Fascinating.

Finally, as this is a quilting blog, a book about the secrets and stories sewn into a particular quilt.  This novel is also now a movie, but I recommend sticking with the book.  This is written as half tutorial and half memoir.  It's a very moving piece about the different kinds of love existing in the world and the very different ways women love.

So there is your fall reading list.  Snuggle up and enjoy.

Friday Round-Up

Happy fall, everyone!  It's been warm here in DC lately, but this weekend we're supposed to be in the 40s...and our heat hasn't been turned on yet!  I guess this is why I make quilts...

Here are some things I saw and loved this week!
  • There's a Cathedral Block Quiltalong going on with several blogs!  You can find the first block here.  I made it with some scraps of Guising.  The second block is on my to-do list today!
  • In another QAL, I came across Jeni Baker's Half-Square Triangle Block of the Month!  I love HSTs. I just have to find some fabric to start with these (where oh where will I find that?).
  • Still elopement-planning central in this apartment!  Rifle Paper Co. announcements are still my dream, and these are no different.  Now I just have to get rich by next summer.
  • Google says this page is in Catan (like the Settlers?), so I don't think I'll use the recipe any time soon, but these cat cookies are just too cute.
  • I've been eyeing these Erin Paisley embroidery patterns since they came out.  They're so fun!  And kinda weird.  But in a good way.
And that's it!  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  See you Monday!

Friday Round-up

Each Friday, one of us does a little round-up of stuff that has stuck in the brain this week.  Kind of like an ear-wig, but with stuff.  Ear-wigs are okay, too.  It's not always sewing related.

Yes, I'm back from Greece.  However, while in Greece I contracted a stomach bug.  It seems our fancy hotel didn't have potable water.  Pete's stomach of steel somehow survived and he was able to enjoy the sun and scenery.  I was in bed for three days watching Greece's version of 'quality American movies' which seems code for anything that was straight to video 10 years ago.

Needless to say, I don't have much for you today.  I haven't looked at the internet for a week.

It is full-on fall here in London, so I will treat you with some autumnal treats.

LEEK TOAST
Admittedly, this is for spring, but one transitional season's bounty is another's treat.  I love this snack.  We make it with feta and whatever baton of bread is going stale in the cupboard. We like it with a nice juicy steak, but more often than not we eat it on its own. We made this for some friends of ours last year, one of which had never had leeks.  After this meal he insisted on including leeks in their wedding dinner.  It's that good.

MINESTRONE
This is one of those soups that is incredibly easy to make yet tastes different every time.  We use whichever pasta sauce we have or was on special at the grocery.  In addition to the mixed beans, we add carrot, corn or any other vegetable that might be languishing in the crisper.  (Do you sense a pattern with my cooking?)

FRENCH ONION SOUP
This is my take on this lovely soup.  The result is fantastic but it takes ages to simmer down.  For the crouton top I use the method described in the leek toast recipe, but add gruyere cheese to the second side.  To be honest, the croutons are the best part.

SPICY RED LENTIL SOUP
Another of my soup recipes.  Actually, it's a Weight Watchers recipe, but it's one of our favorites (it's at the bottom of the post).  A nice addition to this one also came as an accident.  I had some onion bagels which crumbled at every attempt to slice them.  I turned them into gruyere covered croutons for the top of the soup instead of the swirl of yogurt.  However, the swirl of yogurt is lovely as well.

Wrap yourself in a duvet and have some soup.  Winter is coming.

Friday Round-Up

Man, we are deep into the kitten stage here at the Sposetta-Regnier residence.  The cat is adorable, but he's driving us completely crazy.  While I love his playfulness, there is a line, and he crossed it when he knocked over a vase of flowers before 7 AM.

Here's what interested me this week!

  • Purl SoHo announced their new line of embroidery patterns, a collaboration with Egg Press.  As an embroiderer and a fan of Purl, I love these!  I think they'd be perfect for a nursery or a girly bedroom.  I just have to convince myself $60 isn't too much to spend on crafting!
  • Pumpkin cookies with brown-butter icing sound like a perfect dessert at this point in the season.  Too bad Nick doesn't like pumpkin or I'd be forced to make and eat them all!
  • I know you've seen this gingham patchwork quilt by now.  It's everywhere!  I think I'm going to make one in purple.  I love the simplicity!
  • Is it wrong to wear a cardigan over my wedding dress?  Oh well.  I've started gathering ideas  for what I'll either make or buy and they all scream "cardigan."  (You can read my thoughts on my wedding here.)
  • I saw this on Pinterest last night and thought it was particularly relatable for sewists.  Everything we do has love and passion stitched into it, but sometimes there are mistakes.  Let's hope we learn from them!
Have a great weekend, everyone!  Feel free to share your inspiration in the comments.

Friday Round-up

Each Friday, one of us does a little round-up of stuff that has stuck in the brain this week.  Kind of like an ear-wig, but with stuff.  Ear-wigs are okay, too.  It's not always sewing related.

I thought I would actually give you some sewing links today.  Novel, I know.  This story about an anti-quilt is a fun read.  I also like the idea of an anti-quilt.  However, despite the lack of piecing here, I find this quilt just as meaningful as any other.  It's the story that makes it a quilt, I think.  Not the pieces.

photo by Completely Cauchy from her blog
I have a confession to make.  I can't get into quilting blogs.  I have tried.  I really have, but I have no desire to read tutorials or blow by blow descriptions of technique.  I guess that makes me a bit hypocritical, but what can I say?  However, I happened upon this blog, Completely Cauchy, and her irreverence and political slant are delicious.  There is a passion behind her needlework and it comes out in the visual product, no need for description.

But who am I kidding?  All I can really think about is the move.  It's happening tomorrow.  I don't remember being this stressed in any of my prior moves, and there are a lot.  The international leap might be an exception.  As it is with any project, I was procrastinating a bit on the packing front and starting looking for ideas for moving announcements.  Sure, I could just send everyone an email with the updated info, but this is our first real house together.  All our own.  Surely that deserves something a little special.

In clockwise order: air mail, nest, coordinates, luggage tag, hot air balloon, and another nest.

What do yo think? I'm leaning towards the coordinate theme.  I am a geographer after all and we do live spitting distance from the Prime Meridian.  But who are we kidding?  It will probably end up being a mass email.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Round-Up

Happy Friday!  Fun fact: I have a coworker who starts every email written on Friday with that line.  It drives me bonkers.

Here's my round-up this week.  What good sites have you seen lately?

Moon River Brewery in Savannah last week

  • I'm a huge fan of Rifle Paper Co. (I've priced them out for our wedding announcements...our tight budget will need to become even tighter) (oh yeah!  I got engaged last weekend!  I forgot to mention that.), but Quill and Fox is like Rifle's younger, less refined sister.  The Chupacabra postcards are too awesome.
  • Did anyone else see this dresser renovation on Cluck Cluck Sew?  The woman has endless amounts of talent.  I want one just like it now!
  • And I can't let this week go by without a mention of Anna from Noodlehead's black and white quilt.  Jeni's tutorial is originally made up in patterns--and lord knows I love a good pattern--but black and white, with that background, is simply stunning.  Such a modern take on this design.  I've already pinned it!
  • This Mexican vegetable soup will definitely be on our table next month.  Thursday Night Soup Nights starts in three weeks!
  • Finally, because obviously a wedding is on my mind, I think these announcements are perfect for us quilters!  And they don't cost nearly as much as the Rifle ones...
Have a great weekend, everyone!  See you Monday with some Chicopee!

Friday Round-up

Each Friday, one of us does a little round-up of stuff that has stuck in the brain this week.  Kind of like an ear-wig, but with stuff.  Ear-wigs are okay, too.  It's not always sewing related.

Emily started last week's round-up with her favorite autumn brew, I thought I would continue the trend.  Meantime Brewery is by far our favorite beer provider.  It is our local micro-brewery and by local I mean it is a five minute walk from our flat.  They also have two local venues (20 and 30 minute walks from the flat).  If it is a sunny afternoon, chances are we are enjoying a London Lager and whichever seasonal brew they have on offer in their beer garden.  If you visit count on an evening at The Old Brewery.

photo by AB Chao from her blog
To continue the refreshment theme, Hurricane Isaac is creating a bit of havoc in the bayou, but some are trying to make lemonade out of lemons, or more accurately, A Dark and Stormy out of rum, ginger beer and limes.  I have to admit this is probably in bad taste, but that Kraken Rum looks delicious.

My yoga class this week was cancelled.  These cookie cutters by Baked Ideas are going a long way to making up for a missed 90 minutes of twisting, stretching, omm-ing.

photo by Serenah Photography
Sausage and Mash.

Hilarious.
Seriously, I laughed so hard at this I might have cried a little.  I mean, are you kidding me?  I wouldn't say I am a huge fan of pet photography (my pictures of the adorable and devilish Trinculo aside) or dogs in general, but Serenah Photography in Brisbane is coming very close to changing my mind.  But a fair warning, the cat photos feature those weird hairless things that I don't really believe can be categorized as cats.

Are you hungry yet? Thirsty?  Now you know where to go.  Have a great weekend.

Friday Round-Up

Oh my good lord...why did Friday take so long this week?!

  • Wild Olive's printable quilt cards are adorable.  How would I use them?  I can see them becoming note cards (perhaps writing down notes about projects, things you've learned, etc...), little handmade calling cards, bookmarks, whatever!  So cute.
  • Dessert!  I found some great recipes this week, from brownies on Smitten Kitchen to fall apple cake from Martha Stewart.
  • Speaking of fall, as you can see from the above picture, it's pumpkin beer time in these parts!  I don't remember it coming so early, but boy, am I thankful.  Post Road Pumpkin (Brooklyn Brewery) is my favorite, but this Punk'n from Uinta Brewery in Utah stole my heart with its label and its taste.
  • I am in love with Aneela Hoey's Cherry Christmas, and Amanda made an awesome pillow with it this week.  I may grab a charm pack and make one just like it!
  • And because I mentioned Aneela Hoey, did you see her sneak peek of Posy?  It's quite different from her usual look and reminds me more of Heather Ross, which is right up my alley.  I can't wait for January!
What are you sewing this weekend?  I have some great projects to show you on Monday, but tomorrow I'm heading to an LQS (over an hour away...not so local) with a friend from my Modern Quilt Guild.  Here's hoping we find some good stuff!  (Because we definitely both need more fabric...)
